If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

As a social & new media enthusiast it is my business to know what the trend is with social media and I try to keep up. However, I must admit that at some stage I started to get overwhelmed and started to feel that I was stretching myself too thin. My advice for anyone who might be struggling with making a decision on whether to sign up in a new social network not, is that it’s your call and you should make a decision based on your goals.

Stay focused and think about what it is that you really want to achieve in your life. For me what I really want to do is to empower people with knowledge about life, technology and social media and help them make a difference through personal development and creative work. For this I find that Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are very effective and efficient for me.

Even though I am focused on these main social networks I cannot help not to look at the trends and see what could be the hottest thing. I am totally amazed by how Pinterest is growing. My experience with it was quite extraordinary because I just could not figure it out, even though I believe and know that its a powerful site if you have visual content.

With all the new networking sites and no matter how many invites you receive it’s your call and decision on how to react to this invite.

If you don’t like it, don’t use it. It’s that simple.
